‘Run All Night’ Review

photo for Run All Night Brooklyn hit man turned drunk Jimmy Conlon (Liam Neeson) has to defend his estranged son and family from local mob boss Shawn Maguire’s (Ed Harris) henchmen when Conlon’s son inadvertently sees Maguire’s son murder Albanian rivals. When Conlon kills Maguire’s son, the ganglord masses his troops against the pair, and the duo go on the run, with the body count mounting as the evening wears on. But the film is just another middle-of-the-road revenge actioner: There’s really no one to like here and the chases, murders and fight sequences are all too de rigueur for this genre. Neeson extends his skein as an fine action hero but the convoluted plot can’t keep up with his killing field. Vitals: Director: Jaume Collet-Serra. Stars: Liam Neeson, Joel Kinnaman, Vincent D’Onofrio, Bruce McGill, Genesis Rodriguez, Boyd Holbrook, Holt McCallany, Common, Ed Harris. 2015, CC, MPAA rating: R, 114 min., Thriller, Box office gross: $26.372 million, Warner. Extras: Deleted scenes. Blu-ray adds “Shoot All Night” behind-the-scenes featurette, “Action All Night” Liam Neeson featurette. 2 stars
