THE ROUNDUP: NO WAY OUT
Capelight Pictures proudly announces the Deluxe 4K UHD + Blu-ray release of the blockbuster crime thriller THE ROUNDUP: NO WAY OUT. The action-packed award winner, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2022 box office phenomenom The Roundup, will arrive April 9, 2024, in both a Blu-ray/DVD and a deluxe 4K UHD + Blu ray combo set.
Featuring tons of action and martial arts hand-to-hand combat, THE ROUNDUP: NO WAY OUT will thrill fans of Asian action cinema as well as international hits like the John Wick series. The film is set seven years after the events inThe Roundup, which saw South Korean police detective Ma Seok-do and his team dispatched to Vietnam to extradite a dangerous Korean fugitive who was suspiciously eager to be incarcerated back home. In the new film, the lovable lunk Ma (Don Lee) joins a new squad to investigate a murder case at home. He soon learns this case involves busting dealers of a new synthetic drug called Hiper, and he starts to dig deeper. Meanwhile, the Japanese mafia boss behind it all, Ichizo (Jun Kunimura) won’t stop looking for trouble, and the Japanese drug distributor Ricky (Munetaka Aoki) and his gang come to Korea to join the chaos. Things are about to get out of hand…
THE ROUNDUP: NO WAY OUT, the third title in the crowd-pleasing Crime City (aka The Outlaws) film series, is directed by The Roundup helmer, Lee Sang-yong, and also brings back Don Lee (Eternals, Train to Busan) in the starring role. The film also stars Munetaka Aoki (upcoming Godzilla Minus One, Silence, Rurouni Kenshin), Lee Jun-hyuk (I Saw the Devil) and Jun Kunimura (Kill Bill: Volume 1, The Wailing, Audition).
The film won the Blue Dragon Award as the top box office hit of the year in South Korea, taking in over $80 million and counting. Its trailer and film clips have scored more than 2 million YouTube views. It also won the Audience Award at the 2023 Sitges Film Festival in Spain. A sequel is in post-production and will be released in 2024.
Jared Mobarek of Hey, Have You Seen? calls THE ROUNDUP: NO WAY OUT “as consistently entertaining and engrossing as the previous chapter.” Peter Volk of Polygon raves, “You don’t need to watch the previous Crime City movies to follow No Way Out, but you should, because they rule, and any excuse to watch Ma Dong-seok punching fools is a good one.” Film Threat’s Alan Ng wrote, “If you miss the blatant disregard for one’s rights and a bit of brutality that came in the form of Lethal Weapon and Beverly Hills Cop, The Roundup: No Way Out is as good as it gets for those feelings of modern-day nostalgia.”
