"The movie business is macabre. Grotesque.
It is a combination of a football game
and a brothel."

How the Terminator Movies Went Wrong

In 1984, viewers were presented with the original “The Terminator.” The film was created by James Cameron and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and was a huge success and was viewed by millions. This success led to the sequel, “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” which was released in 1991. It was an instant blockbuster hit that turned the T-800 into one of the good guys in the movie. The film grossed over $519 million worldwide and was one of Cameron’s greatest hits.

Things started to change when the third Terminator movie was made under the direction of Jonathan Mostow. He lacked the talent of Cameron and this was reflected in the movie, which was nowhere near as successful as the first two . However, the Terminator franchise did not give up, and the fourth film, “Terminator Salvation,” directed by McG, was released in 2009 and had a bit more success than the third movie.

In 2015, “Terminator Genisys” was released under the direction of Alan Taylor, yet, once again, was not as successful as those that were directed by Cameron. Through the years, Terminator fans have followed the films, but have been disappointed with the later storylines.

This may come to change as James Cameron is back in action with “Terminator 6,” the sixth movie for the franchise. This is due to be released in November of 2019. This sixth film may be what brings Terminator back to life and many expect the new release to be a blockbuster hit, which is good news for a franchise that has seen a decline in success over the years. Even with some rough roads in the past, fans around the globe remain loyal to the Terminator franchise and will be eagerly awaiting the newest release.
