MISS SHERLOCK
Available for Digital Download January 21
Re-envisioned and set in modern day Tokyo, HBO’s Miss Sherlock is a bold interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, where the iconic characters are played by women. Experience an all-new homage to the classic story when the eight-part series is available for Digital Download on January 21st.
British-born Miss Sherlock Holmes heads to Japan, working for the local police, where she meets Dr. Wato Tachibana, a surgeon who has just returned from Syria volunteering for a medical mission. The two women spark a friendship and partnership, and the series captures the dynamic duo in their element, investigating peculiar and challenging mysteries. Miss Sherlock maintains the quintessential qualities of Sherlock Holmes, having insightful observation and reasoning skills in a new depiction as a strong female investigator.
In co-production with Hulu in Japan, the eight part series is HBO’s first Japanese original. Yuko Takeuchi (Dog in a Sidecar, Flashforward) stars in the titular role as Sherlock, while her crime-solving partner, Dr. Wato Tachibana, is played by Shihori Kanjiya (Chiritotechin, Kuchizuke). Miss Sherlock is also the latest edition of locally produced international programming, made available to US subscribers, from HBO’s international partners.
