Children of the Damned BLU-RAY DEBUT (1963) Six gifted children are found to pose a threat to the world in this chilling horror story from the makers of "Village of the Damned." The children, who all live in England but are from different parts of the world, are normal in all respects except that they are geniuses with acute psychic powers. photo for Deep Red Deep Red 4K Blu-ray (1975) From Dario Argento, maestro of the macabre and the man behind some of the greatest excursions in Italian horror ("Suspiria," "The Bird with the Crystal Plumage"), comes this ultimate giallo movie. One night, musician Marcus Daly (David Hemmings), looking up from the street below, witnesses the brutal axe murder of a woman in her apartment. Racing to the scene, Marcus just manages to miss the perpetrator ... or does he? As he takes on the role of amateur sleuth, Marcus finds himself ensnared in a bizarre web of murder and mystery where nothing is what it seems. Aided by a throbbing score from regular Argento collaborators Goblin, "Deep Red" (aka "Profondo Rosso and The Hatchet Murders") is a hallucinatory fever dream of a giallo punctuated by some of the most astonishing set-pieces the sub-genre has to offer. New 4K restoration of both the original 127-minute Italian version and the 105-minute export version from the original negative by Arrow Films. photo for Devi Devi (1960 -- India) Master filmmaker Satyajit Ray explores the conflict between fanaticism and free will in "Devi (The Goddess)," issuing a subversively modern challenge to religious orthodoxy and patriarchal power structures. In the waning days of mid-19th-century India’s feudal system, after his son (Soumitra Chatterjee) leaves for Kolkata to complete his studies, a wealthy rural landowner (Chhabi Biswas) is seized by the notion that his beloved daughter-in-law (a hauntingly sad-eyed Sharmila Tagore) is the reincarnation of the goddess Kali -- a delusion that proves devastating to the young woman and those around her. The opulently stylized compositions and the chiaroscuro lighting by cinematographer Subrata Mitra heighten the entrancing expressionistic intensity of this domestic tragedy, making for an experience that is both sublime and shattering. Formats: DVD, Blu-ray, with new 4K digital restoration, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack on the Blu-ray. Extras: New program featuring interviews with actors Sharmila Tagore and Soumitra Chatterjee, recorded in 2013; new video essay by film scholar Meheli Sen; an essay by film critic Devika Girish.(The Criterion Collection). Dinner at Eight BLU-RAY DEBUT (1933) Jean Harlow, Wallace Beery, Billie Burke, Marie Dressler. "Dinner at Eight," a vastly entertaining behind-closed-doors glimpse into the lives of the troubled and troublemaking who’s who of people invited to a posh Manhattan party, is served with ample helpings of humor and melodrama. Buoyed by the success of the studio’s multistarred, multistoried "Grand Hotel" the year before, producer David O. Selznick aspired to something grander – and found it in this George Cukor-directed adaptation of the George S. Kaufman/Edna Ferber stage hit. Highlights include Jean Harlow and Wallace Beery’s bitter battle of the sexes, hostess Billie Burke’s hissy fit and Marie Dressler’s grande dame worldliness. Of course, there’s only one way to catch all the great moments. Extras: Documentary profile "Harlow: The Blonde Bombshell," hosted by Sharon Stone; parody comedy short "Come to Dinner"; theatrical trailer. (Warner Archive).

Anselmo, a middle age shepherd, lives a poor but happy life in a small run down house in a middle of the Spain plains, near a small, but growing village. His dog Pillo and photo for El pastor (The Shepherd)his sheep are his only company. It's a life bucolic enough for him to ignore the offers he receives from a construction company who wants to buy his house and land to build a new residential complex. Conflicting against Anselmo's unwillingness to sell is the greed of the owners of the neighboring lands, who only answer to their own interests. When Anselmo's refusal to sell prevents the sale of their land, the neighbors resort to violence. Formats: DVD, Digital. (Corinth Films).

Eye of the Devil BLU-RAY DEBUT (1966) Deborah Kerr, David Niven, Sharon Tate, Donald Pleasence, Flora Robson, David Hemmings, Edward Mulhare, Emlyn Williams. A forbidding French chateau and its surrounding vineyards are the setting for Gothic thrills in this haunting excursion into the occult. Kerr and Niven lead an exceptional cast in a chiller reminiscent of the later "The Wicker Man" (1973), in which an innocent outsider to an enclosed world peels back layers of mystery to reveal a shocking truth. Kerr plays the outsider, the wife of a troubled marquis (Niven), who discovers – perhaps too late – that her husband’s ancestral chateau is home to witches, warlocks, a sinister priest, 12 hooded figures ... and terror. (Warner Archive).

The Heart Guy, Series 5 (2021) Two-disc set with eight episodes. Despite Mary’s love for him, Don falls for Lois Rising (Todd), the daughter of a powerful politician, and the two eventually marry, leaving a brokenhearted Mary to move on and focus on her work. As Mary becomes a successful pediatrician, Don’s marriage deteriorates, driving him to drink and eventually threatening his career. Escaping to a resort, he unexpectedly runs into Mary, and the two rekindle their old love. But when Mary finds herself pregnant while scandalously unwed, she’s faced with a dilemma that could destroy everything she’s achieved. (Warner Archive).

The Rifleman (aka Blizzard of Soul) (2019 -- Latvia) Oto Brantevics, Greta Trusina, Martins Vilsons. Drama pays stark witness to the horrors and brutality of the First World War, as seen through the eyes of an innocent 17-year-old farm-boy turned soldier. Though he is underage, and his dad, a former marksman, is over age for the army, they are both conscripted into one of Latvia’s first national battalions.
