On August 12th, Arrow Video launches the cruise ship disaster epic Poseidon, from legendary director Wolfgang Peterson (Das Boot, Air Force One), in its global premiere on 4K UHD. The Limited Edition release features a 4K Ultra HD (2160p) presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) and hours of special features.

Thousands of vacationers celebrate New Year’s Eve on the luxury liner Poseidon. While VIP guests dance away in the grand ballroom after midnight, a massive rogue wave overtakes the ship and sends it to the ocean depths. Instead of waiting for rescue with the ship’s captain (Andre Braugher, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and the other guests, including John Lucas (Yellowstone), Kurt Russell (Escape From New York), Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws), and Emmy Rossum (Shameless), make a treacherous journey through the wrecked ship in hopes of escaping before the ocean claims them all.

The special features include new interviews with director of photography John Seale, production designer William Sandell, visual effects supervisor Boyd Shermis, and make-up effects on-set supervisor Michael Deak; a new retrospective on the film by Heath Holland; featurettes; a reversible sleeve; and an illustrated collector’s booklet with an essay by Priscilla Page.

On August 19th, the transformative and twisted Perpetrator, from celebrated writer-director Jennifer Reeder (Knives and Skin, V/H/S/94), arrives on Blu-ray. The film offers an intriguing blend of horror/fantasy with an unsettling feminist coming-of-age story and is loaded with special features.

Jonny Baptiste (Kiah McKirnan, Mare of Easttown) is an impulsive and wild teenager living in a town where several young women have gone missing. As her eighteenth birthday approaches, her father (Tim Hopper, Chicago Fire) sends her off to live with her aunt (Alicia Silverstone, Clueless), where she experiences an unusual transformation. With her newfound abilities, Jonny goes on a dangerous and bloody quest to stop whoever is responsible for the disappearances.

The special features include new audio commentary by writer-director Jennifer Reeder and director of photography Sevdije Kastrati; a new video essay by filmmaker Jen Handorf; on-set cast interviews with Kiah McKirnan, Alicia Silverstone, Melanie Liburd, and Christopher Lowell; two music videos directed by Jennifer Reeder; three short films directed by Jennifer Reeder; the original trailer; a reversible sleeve; and an illustrated collector’s booklet featuring new writing on the film by Kat Hughes and Marianne Lampon.

On August 26th, the explosive remake of the massive cult classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre from director Marcus Nispel (Friday the 13th) makes its global premiere on 4K UHD. This blockbuster was the first movie produced by Michael Bay‘s studio Platinum Dunes, and the Limited Edition features a 4K Ultra HD (2160p) presentation in Dolby and hours of special features.

Five friends (including Jessica Biel, Blade:Trinity and Eric Balfour, Skyline) embark on a road trip through Texas and pick up a disoriented teenage girl who performs an extreme act to avoid being taken to the nearby town for help. The group searches for the elusive Sheriff Hoyt (R. Lee Ermey, Full Metal Jacket) to deal with the aftermath of their Good Samaritan deed, but things go murderously wrong when Leatherface (Andrew Bryniarski, Street Fighter) and his chainsaw surprise them. The teenagers appear to be on the menu for the local cannibals. The remake features the return of John Larroquette (Night Court) as the narrator, and Daniel Pearl, the director of photography from Tobe Hooper’s original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

The special features include brand new audio commentaries; archival audio commentaries; new interviews; a making-of documentary; an in-depth look at Ed Gein, who inspired the character of Leatherface; scenes excised from the final edit; deleted scenes, including an alternate opening and ending; screen tests for Jessica Biel, Eric Balfour, and Erica Leerhsen; a behind-the-scenes featurette; cast and crew interviews; theatrical trailers; TV spots; concept art galleries; a double-sided foldout poster featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Aaron Lea, and an illustrated collector’s booklet featuring new writing on the film by Michael Gingold.

Also on August 26th, the origins of the infamous horror icon Leatherface are exposed in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, also available for the very first time on 4K UHD. Director Jonathan Liebesman (Darkness Falls) captures the nightmare in Michael Bay‘s studio Platinum Dunes’ prequel to their remake of Tobe Hooper’s original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The Limited Edition release features a 4K Ultra HD presentation of the original Theatrical Version and the extended Uncut Version along with hours of special features.

After being born on the killing floor, Leatherface (Andrew Bryniarski, Pearl Harbor) works in a slaughterhouse for years. The non-talkative employee wears a leather mask to cover a birth defect. When the plant shuts down, Leatherface refuses to accept his unemployed fate and carves up his supervisor. A group of teenagers driving through the area (including Jordana Brewster, The Fast and the Furious, and Matt Boomer, Magic Mike) get into a wreck and quickly learn that the local Sheriff has an unorthodox method for law enforcement. He lets Leatherface act as judge, jury, and butcher. Will the teenagers be their first out-of-town victims?

The special features include new audio commentaries; an archival audio commentary; new interviews with actor Lew Temple, special effects makeup artist Jake Garber, special effects makeup technician Kevin Wasner, and director of photography Lukas Ettlin; an archival making-of documentary featuring interviews with cast and crew members; deleted and extended scenes with optional commentary from director Jonathan Liebesman and producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller; the theatrical trailer; a double-sided foldout poster featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Aaron Lea; and an illustrated collector’s booklet featuring new writing on the film by Michael Gingold.
