DVD Brief: Blast From the Past |
|
Description: Comedy about a young man (Brendan Fraser), raised in a bomb shelter since the 1960s -- his father thought WWIII had started -- and what happens when he resurfaces in 1999 and meets up with modern culture, including a hip Eve (Alicia Silverstone). Despite poor reviews and a weak boxoffice, give this one a good look. You'll be pleased and surprised with the sweet performances and story line. There's gentle humor, sympathetic characters, and satirical pokes at religion, hippies and conservative politics.
There are very few extras: cast and crew bios and a rather weak "Love Meter
Game" that -- in mimicking old-fashioned amusement park games -- asks you to
place your thumb on the screen and then click enter, randomly "rating" you as a
lover: from dud, stink bomb or fizzler to atomic or 50 megaton lover.
