The Watermelon Woman

The Ranown Westerns: Five Films Directed By Budd Boetticher

Blood Money: Four Western Classics Vol. 2 [Limited Edition]

In the mid-1960s, the success of Sergio Leone's "Dollars" trilogy gave rise to an explosion of similar productions. Filmmakers sought to capitalize on this new, uniquely Italian take on the western, characterized by their deeply cynical outlook, morally compromised antiheroes and savage violence. This specially curated selection gathers four outstanding examples of the genre, all centered around the theme of blood money. In Romolo Guerrieri's "$10,000 Blood Money" (1967), Gianni Garko - best known for his portrayal of supernatural gunslinger Sartana - takes on the part of another beloved western antihero, Django, who is on the trail of bandit Manuel Vasquez (Claudio Camaso). But what started as a job for hire soon turns personal, with Django swearing vengeance against the unscrupulous outlaw. Then, in the film's spiritual successor, Giovanni Fago's "Vengeance is Mine "(1967; a.k.a. "$100,000 for a Killing"), Garko and Camaso once again star as estranged half-brothers - one a Confederate soldier now riding with renegade outlaws, the other a bounty hunter tasked with bringing him in alive. Next, in Giuliano Carnimeo's "Find a Place to Die" (1968), Jeffrey Hunter plays Joe Collins, a disgraced former soldier who assembles a ragtag band of scoundrels. They are lured into helping a woman to rescue her prospector husband, who is trapped at their gold mine cave-in - though in reality, they have designs on the gold strike themselves. Finally, in Cesare Canevari's psychedelic :"Matalo! (Kill Him)" (1970), a band of outlaws, having holed up in a ghost town, set about terrorizing travelers Ray and Bridget - only to get more than they bargained for when Ray fights back, armed only with a bag full of boomerangs. Featuring a wealth of key Euro-cult talent both behind and in front of the camera, Arrow Films presents these four classic westerns in sparkling High Definition restorations produced specially for this release, alongside a plethora of brand new bonus materials. The Broadway Melody

(1929) Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer made every effort to impress with its first talking motion picture, setting a new standard for big-budget films and establishing an archetype for decades of movie musicals to follow. The Great White Way truly becomes the Street of Broken Dreams when sisters Queenie and Hank Mahoney (Anita Page and Bessie Love) follow Hank's boyfriend, Eddie Kearns (Charles King), to Manhattan with visions of stardom. In New York, Eddie and Queenie are attracted to each other, but unwilling to betray her sister, Queenie dates a feckless cad. Now, Hank must sort out the tangle of aspirations and emotions that form this tragic love triangle. Filled with a memorable score of unforgettable songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed, this was the first sound film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture (1929-30). Cimarron

(1931) 1898. The Oklahoma Land Rush. As thousands of would-be settlers race across a barren desert to be the first to stake their claim to a plot of land, Yancey Cravat (Richard Dix) is cheated out of his property by Dixie Lee (Estelle Taylor). Without the farm they had hoped to start, Yancey and his wife, Sabra (Irene Dunne), take over the local newspaper after the editor is assassinated. But as the newspaper helps bring order to a lawless land, Yancey feels the wanderlust to find new frontiers and new adventures, and Sabra stays to build a publishing empire. Always in love, frequently apart and destined for greatness, Yancey and Sabra lead lives as tempestuous as the land they have chosen for their home in this epic Western classic. Helen of Troy

(1956) 1100 BCE. King Priam (Sir Cedric Hardwicke) of Troy sends his son, Paris (Jack Sernas), to Sparta to negotiate a treaty to ensure peace between the two Greek city-states. But Paris falls in love with Spartan King Menelaus' (Niall MacGinnis) wife, Helen (Rossana Podesta). Paris kidnaps the willing Helen and her servant (Brigitte Bardot), starting a war that will kill thousands of brave warriors and spell the end of the city of Troy. Homer's Iliad provides the basis for this epic from the '50s heyday of big-screen blockbusters. The Last Time I Saw Paris

Robot Monster - The 70th Anniversary Restored Edition

At long last, "can" and "must" meet on the graph, as "Robot Monster", billed as the most demented, delirious, and delightful 3-D film of the Golden Age, arrives in a showcase edition loaded with out-of-this-world extras. A cosmic catastrophe has wiped out humanity, and now the last six survivors must outwit that strangely iconic alien menace, Ro-Man. Taking orders from the pitiless Great Guidance, Ro-Man wavers in his pursuit of human annihilation when he falls in love with a girl (Barrett). Can dashing young Roy (Nader) save her? Independently photographed in less than a week on location in Bronson Canyon, in the Hollywood Hills, the True-Stereo photography is comparable to the major studio 3-D productions of the time. Swamp Thing
