THE GOODBYE GIRL (1977) New 2016 1080p HD Remaster. Neil Simon pens an acerbic Valentine for then wife Marsha Mason and hands a young Richard Dreyfus a breakout career-defining role in this wise and witty romance for grown-ups. Up-and-coming Chicago thespian Elliot Garfield (Dreyfus) lands the lead in a decidedly off  off-off Broadway production of Richard III (“the queen who wanted to be king!”) and scores a Manhattan sub-let for his stay. Arriving with his baggage at the midnight hour, Elliot discovers the flat comes with baggage of its own – the sub-letting tenant’s abandoned live-girlfriend, ex-chorine Paula McFadden (Mason) and her 10 year old daughter Lucy (Quinn Cummings). As this truly Odd Couple of sudden roommates inevitably clash over life and lifestyle, young Lucy proves the glue that keep them together long enough to see each other for what they are. And, maybe, give Paula the strength to see beyond her long line of “Goodbyes”. Now seen with the clarity of 1080p HD in this new master, all the grit and glory of 1970’s New York City shines through as never before. Produced by Ray Stark (California Suite) and directed by Herbert Ross (Sunshine Boys). 16×9 Widescreen
