There was a time — before xvideos.com, brazzer and redtube, before online dating and smartphone hookups — that prurient-minded folks could get a sex fix only via greasy-thumbed “mens magazines,” grainy 8mm pornos and — in a darkened, stained movie theater — sexploitation films.
What became of those films of yore? Director Frank Henenlotter (“Basket Case,” “Brain Damage”) and co-producer Mike Vraney (the late founder of Something Weird Video) created “That’s Sexploitation,” an epic documentary that explored the world of sexploitation films. Henenlotter and legendary exploitation monarch David F. Friedman — in his final film appearance — are the hosts for this eye-popping expedition through the world of pre-code peekaboos, stags, sex-hygiene films, goona-goonas, nudie-cuties, roughies, druggies, white-coaters and more, featuring thousands of spicy, steamy and downright sleazy clips from the SWV archives.
