“1987: When the Day Comes,” a thrilling look back at a pivotal moment in South Korean history and the death of a student protester that sparked public outrage and shook an entire country, is releasing on Amazon, Google Play, and iTunes on May 15, 2018. The film won both the “Golden Mulberry Audience Award” and the “Black Mulberry Award” at the 20th Udine Far East Film Festival, as well as the “Grand Prize in Film,” “Best Screenplay,” “Leading Actor in Film,” and “Supporting Actor in Film” award at the 54th Baeksang Arts Awards. The cost is $14.99 to purchase High Definition (HD), $9.99 to purchase Standard Definition (SD), $4.99 to rent High Definition (HD), and $3.99 to rent Standard Definition (SD).

 In 1987, South Koreans were living under an oppressive military regime, a college student is killed during a police interrogation. Government officials quickly jump to cover up the death and order the body cremated, but the prosecutor who needs to sign off raises questions on the cause of death – a heart attack – and begins to dig for the truth. Despite a systematic attempt to silence everyone involved in the case, the truth gets out, sending a government fighting to keep power into political turmoil.

This film is distributed by CJ Entertainment, directed by JANG Joon Hwan (“Hwayi: A Monster Boy”) and stars KIM Yoon-seok (“The Fortress”, “The Priests”), HA Jung-woo (“The Handmaiden”), YOO Hai-jin (“A Taxi Driver”), KIM Tae-ri (“The Handmaiden”) and LEE Hee-joon (“SORI”).
