FilmRise announces the theatrical and digital release of “MOUNTAIN REST” starring Stranger Things’ Natalia Dyer and Golden Globe® and multiple SAG Award®-winner Frances Conroy.  Written and Directed by Alex O Eaton, the film’s story centers around an aging actress who calls her estranged daughter and granddaughter home for reconciliation and one final celebration.  What ensues is a weekend of fantasies and disillusionments. “MOUNTAIN REST” will be released theatrically in New York City and available on transactional platforms including iTunes, Prime Video, Vudu and Google Play December 7.

Having sequestered herself in a remote cabin in the mountains for years, eccentric former actress, Ethel (Frances Conroy) discovers she only has months to live and attempts to make amends with her estranged daughter, Frankie (Kate Lyn Sheil) and granddaughter Clara (Natalia Dyer) who Ethel has never met.  Planning an extravagant party with the help of her companion and caretaker Bascolm (Shawn Hatosy) as a last “hoo-rah”, Frankie and Clara soon learn that Ethel’s world is not quite as it seems. Over the weekend’s festivities, Ethel blurs the lines between truth and fiction, which culminate in unsettling revelations, forcing everyone to reconsider the roles they play in each other’s lives.

“MOUNTAIN REST” had its world premiere at the 2018 Nashville International Film Festival where it was named winner of The New Director’s Competition as well as winner of a the VER Prize for Cinematography.   Directed by Nashville native Alex O Eaton, this is her first film.  Ashley Connor (The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Madeline’s Madeline) serves as Director of Photography.  The film’s original score is by Nashville music producer and song writer, Robin Eaton, Alex’s father.  The film was produced by Fernando Loureiro and Roberto Vasconcellos of Exhibit (Sweet Virginia, I Think We’re Alone Now); Renata Nascimento; Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Miles Joris-Peyrafitte and Márcia Mayer served as executive producers; with co-executive producers Jonathan Gardner, Mark McDonald, and Will Coble.

 

“MOUNTAIN REST” has a run of 93 minutes and is Not Rated.
