FilmRise announces the digital release of the theatrical on demand feature film documentary “LIFE IN THE DOGHOUSE” this November in North America.  From Ron Davis, director of Harry & Snowman (NY Times Critics Pick), LIFE IN THE DOGHOUSE is a first-hand look at the incredible life stories of Ron Danta and Danny Robertshaw, a couple who for the past 10 years have rescued and found homes for over 10,000 abandoned and abused dogs by turning their own home into a rescue.   Sure to warm the hearts of dog and animal lovers everywhere, “LIFE IN THE DOGHOUSE,” received major national media attention and acclaim from its first official festival screening at Frameline this past summer and went on to quickly capture the attention major media outlets including The CBS Evening News, Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family, Fox News, the Associated Press, MSN.com, and support from The Humane Society of The United States.   The film will be now available for sale and rental on iTunes, Prime Video, Google Play and Xbox beginning November 20, 2018 in time for the holidays.

As a child, Danny Robertshaw’s mom would take him to rescue shelters and explain, “You don’t buy a pet, you save one.” In 2005, when Hurricane Katrina’s surge broke through the levees in New Orleans and thousands of dogs were left stranded, Danny and his partner of almost 30 years, Ron Danta stepped up to save the lives of the abandoned dogs.  The veteran horse trainers and animal lovers drove their horse trailer down and back from South Carolina to New Orleans bringing home 40-60 dogs per trip. Dedicating all of their own resources to the effort, including their own home, they eventually rescued and found homes for more than 10,000 dogs and Danny & Ron’s Rescue 501(c)(3) was founded.

With a self-imposed no-kennel policy, there can be as many as 75 dogs living with them in their home at any given time; the dogs also join them on the horse show circuit on their journey of finding their “forever home.” Danny & Ron were honored with the 2008 ASPCA Humanitarian Award for their unwavering personal sacrifice and unique approach to dog rescue & adoption during hurricane Katrina.

The film has a running time of 82 minutes and is not rated.
