Here Are the Best Casino Movies of All Time

If you want to kick back and relax, then you will know that nothing quite compares to a good movie. Action and thriller films are often go-to options, and a sub-genre of both are casino films. Such films are known for having a certain amount of mystique that helps to attract players from all around the world. It doesn’t matter whether you love to play games at a brick-and-mortar casino or whether you simply enjoy playing them online, if you haven’t seen these casino movies yet, then you are certainly missing out.

The growth of the online casino industry has been notable over the last couple of decades. In the early days, it was about replicating what could be done a brick-and-mortar establishments. Croupier (1998)

This movie was directed by the one and only Mike Hodges. It is one of the few gambling movies to come out of the UK, and it has managed to reach a cult classic status. The movie stars Clive Owen, who plays a character known as Jack Manfred. He is struggling as a writer in the heart of London, and he decides to take a job as a croupier so he can make some money on the side. He finds that he becomes involved in some illegal activity and things take a turn from there.

Rain Man (1988)

No casino movie list would be complete if it didn’t have Rain Man on it. This movie was directed by Barry Levinson and it is one of the most renowned movies of all time. You have Dustin Hoffman playing the titular character Raymond Babbit, an autistic savant with superb memory recall, and Tom Cruise as Charlie, Raymond’s younger, somewhat egotistical brother. Becasue of Charlie’s debts, he drags Raymond to count cards in Vegas. This is an iconic movie to say the least. It blurs the lines with what is considered to be legal in Vegas and it also really stands out as being a phenomenal watch overall due to the acting quality of the stars.

The Gambler (1974)

Karel Reisz directed this movie about the lengths that people may go to when they are faced with very high stakes. The character who stars in this movie is Axel Freed and he is played by the legendary James Caan. He is a professor of English; the one thing to take note of is that Axel has some very deep and underlying issues and he has a ton of debt too. He is forced to steal some money from his mother and he takes his wife to Las Vegas with hopes that he can one day make it big.

Rounders (1998)

If poker happens to be your game of choice then you will want to give this movie a watch. This is highly recommended film directed by John Dahl. You have the main character who is played by Matt Damon and he has a very strong talent for the game. He chooses to give up gambling so that he can embark on a different path in life, but things soon change again.
