‘West Michigan’ Scheduled for a Visit on VOD, Disc April 13
“WEST MICHIGAN” SCHEDULED FOR FOR APRIL RELEASE
Comedy/Drama Debuts on North American VOD Platforms and DVD on April 13th
Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios, has acquired North American VOD rights to the comedy/drama feature WEST MICHIGAN. WEST MICHIGAN will be available to rent and own on North American digital, HD internet, cable, and satellite platforms and DVD on April 13, 2021 through Freestyle Digital Media.
WEST MICHIGAN tells the story of a depressed seventeen-year-old who searches for meaning while driving up the coast of Western Michigan with her older brother. When siblings Charlie and Hannah receive the call that their grandfather has been hospitalized, they load up the car and drive north to visit him. Charlie insists on packing camping equipment. He wants to visit Tahquamenon Falls once they arrive—their favorite place to camp as children. Halfway to their destination, Hannah’s depression takes a serious hold on her. She abandons her brother and runs off. She books it into the woods and down the beach. Cold and exhausted, she happens upon three teenagers camping in the forest. She befriends them, and lies about her identity. This gives her temporary fulfillment until she learns more about her new friends and their intentions with her. Discouraged, Hannah runs off again to walk alone in the woods. When she reaches the top of a sand dune, she admires the expansive view of Lake Michigan. It’s extraordinary. This begins to bring Hannah the peace of mind she seeks, and she reconvenes with her worried brother to finish their journey together.
Written and directed by Riley Warmoth, WEST MICHIGAN was produced by Riley Warmoth, Renee Ann Story, and Michael Warmoth.
The cast of WEST MICHIGAN included Chloe Ray Warmoth (‘Hannah’), Seth Lee (‘Scott’), Berkley Bragg (‘Grace’), Sydney Agudong (‘Jasmine’), and Riley Warmoth (‘Charlie’).
“Growing up in Michigan, I saw many friends and acquaintances struggle with their mental health. My hope, with this film, is to offer a light at the end of a dark tunnel for those who have been struggling,” said filmmaker Riley Warmoth. “It was important to me to set the film in these beautiful Michigan locations because, as I have personally found, that building a loving connection with your surroundings can be a great start to seeing the world a little differently.”
