BODY SNATCHERS (1993) on Blu-ray.
Arthouse maverick Abel Ferrara trains his indie eye upon Jack Finney’s always relevant masterpiece of paranoia for this third go-round with the pod people in this 1990s’ take on The Invasion of The Body Snatchers. Eschewing the previous installments focus on suburban commie conformity and new age urban thought blight, this time the military-industrial-bureaucratic complex is called into question. Set amidst the confines of a large military base, EPA inspector Steve Malone (Terry Kinney) looks for toxic materials with family in tow. Steve’s teenage daughter Marti (Gabrielle Anwar) strikes up a BFF-riendship with fellow alienated teen Jean (Christine Elise), daughter of base’s hard-as-nails general (R. Lee Ermey). When Jean becomes suddenly well-adjusted, Marti starts to suspect people on the base are being replaced, one by one. And her family is next… Also starring Meg Tilly, with Forest Whitaker. Cult favorite screen scribes Dennis Paoli, Stuart Gordon and Larry Cohen contribute to the screenplay. 16×9 Widescreen and Newly Remastered!

WHEELER & WOOLSEY RKO COMEDY CLASSICS COLLECTION VOLUME 2 (1930-31,1934,1936) In this riotous and rollicking six-film collection, comedy team Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey serve up laughs galore, with extra sides of ribald, whimsy and romance – with occasional dance. Furthermore, this collection also offers up the pair’s twin solo outings for a full serving of anarchic ribald goodness.

Collection includes:

  • THE CUCKOOS (1930) Woolsey and Wheeler come into their own in this prime piece of pre-code comedy as a pair of con men/mediums who traffic with the spirits to save an heiress (June Clyde) and steal a Gypsy girl’s heart (Dorothy Lee).
  • DIXIANA (1930) Bebe Daniels headlines in this tale of cross-class romance in Antebellum Louisiana. While carnival songstress Dixiana (Daniels) struggles with the disapproval of her intended’s snobby step-mother, her circus compatriot clowns Ginger (Woolsey) and Pee Wee (Wheeler) are at hand to re-cross the stars for the young lovers. With Dorothy Lee.
  • TOO MANY COOKS (1931) Bert and regular galpal Dorothy Lee play a couple whose town-and-country dreams are undone by an excess of in-law assistance.
  • EVERYTHING’S ROSIE (1931) Robert plays a single dad carny grifter trying to gin up some happiness for his adopted daughter (Anita Louise) among the blue-bloods.
  • COCKEYED CAVALIERS (1934) Wheeler, Woolsey, Dorothy Lee and Thelma Todd bring on the befuddlement for the Age of Enlightenment in this tale of duplicitous doctors.
  • SILLY BILLIES (1936) Wheeler and Woolsey (and Dorothy Lee) bring relief to the brave frontier of 19th Century America by undertaking the most dangerous – and least regulated – profession of all – dentistry.

ONE DAY SINCE YESTERDAY: PETER BOGDANOVICH & THE LOST AMERICAN FILM (2014) Peter Bogdanovich was a household name before directors were stars, a “boy wonder” of the movies. One Day Since Yesterday follows the life and work of this maverick film icon starting with his early skyrocketing success with award-winning films like The Last Picture Show (1971) and Paper Moon (1973), his polarizing persona and his burgeoning love affair with Dorothy Stratten. A young star of his romantic comedy, They All Laughed (1981), Stratten was also its sparkling inspiration. But in August 1980, she was murdered. Powerful conversations with the director himself, as well as intimate interviews with friends, family and renowned actors and filmmakers – including Jeff Bridges, Cybill Shepherd, and Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson and many more – reveal a man who was often revered, deeply loved and sometimes hated, a man who battled the studios, and one whose devastating loss would eventually reshape his larger-than-life career. 16×9 Widescreen
