NIGHT MOVES (1975) New to Blu-ray with a 2017 1080p HD Remaster – Gene Hackman stars as Hollywood private detective Harry Moseby whose pursuit of a runaway teenaged girl (Melanie Griffith) takes him to the Florida Keys and into a labyrinth of crime, mystery and murder. Arthur Penn’s brilliant post-Kennedy assassination reinvention of Film Noir is as sun-drenched as it is ambiguous, as we discover that our mid-life/existential crisis crime-solver may not be seeing the moves he needs to checkmate a conspiracy. Thanks to a scan from the original camera negative, this masterpiece of Seventies cinema looks fitter and finer than ever. Screenplay by Alan Sharp. 16×9 Letterbox

MY BLUE HEAVEN (1990) New to Blu-ray with a 2017 1080p HD Remaster – Steve Martin and Rick Moraines make for an altogether different odd couple in this mobster-out-of-water crime comedy classic. Inspired by the life of Henry Hill (also the source for Scorcese’s quite different take in GoodFellas), Nora Ephron pens a delightful ensemble of characters for director Herbert Ross. Both cast against type, Moranis is the by-the-book FBI lifer tasked with keeping Martin’s goombah-tastic made man alive in witness protection while Joan Cusack’s single mom DA steals the show with an abundance of slow-burn sincerity. The scrubbed lawns of suburban San Diego show up looking as fresh as today thanks to this sparkling HD transfer. 16×9 Letterbox
