From acclaimed documentarian Elizabeth Lo (Hotel 22, Treasure Island) comes an immersive look at the lives of three stray dogs when Stray arrives on DVD and On Demand on June 1 from Magnolia Home Entertainment. Chronicling the everyday lives of Zeytin, Nazar and Kaytal, three dogs without a home or security in Turkey, the documentary gives audiences an unforgettable glimpse at those often overlooked by society, while simultaneously providing a critical view of the world that engulfs us all.

“Profound” (IndieWire), sharp and intuitive, Stray stands as the ultimate love letter to dogs and an imperative look at humanity through the eyes of man’s best friend. As each of the dogs move silently amongst everyday humans , their experience is infused with a grand sense of wonder as each of the dogs drift through the streets of Turkey in search of companionship, food and shelter. Imbued with compassion, Lo straddles the line between comfort and critique as she explores what it means to fully exist within a society.

Stray will be available on DVD for the suggested retail price of $26.98 and available On Demand via Apple TV, Google Play, Prime Video, FandangoNOW and more on June 1.

Synopsis

Stray explores what it means to live as a being without status or security, following three stray dogs as they embark on inconspicuous journeys through Turkish society. Zeytin, fiercely independent, embarks on adventures through the city at night; Nazar, nurturing and protective, easily befriends the humans around her; while Kartal, a shy puppy living on the outskirts of a construction site, finds companions in the security guards who care for her. The strays’ disparate lives intersect when they each form intimate bonds with a group of young Syrians with whom they share the streets. Director Elizabeth Lo’s (Hotel 22, Treasure Island) award-winning film is a sensory voyage into new ways of seeing and a critical observation of human civilization through the unfamiliar gaze of dogs.
