BEAVIS AND
BUTT-HEAD DO AMERICA
The rude animated MTV characters make their first trip to the big
screen in this wild and wooly comic adventure. Beavis (he's the
guy in the Metallica T) and Butt-head (he's the guy with the
AC/DC T) embark on a cross-country adventure when their TV set is
stolen and they meet a sleazy redneck who offers them $10,000 to
fly to Vegas to "do" his ex-wife. They naturally misconstrue
"do" and get involved in some weird shenanigans.

her to take other lovers, convincing her that it will help his
recovery. Grand Jury Prize winner at last year's Cannes Film
Festival. In pan-and-scan and letterbox versions.

Tim Roth and Tupac Shakur star as junkies who decide that its
time to get clean ... but can't seem to make it through the
system to get help. After a friend overdoses, Stretch and Spoon
go in search of salvation but instead get blamed for the death of
a drug dealer. On the lam from the real murderers and the cops,
they spend an afternoon dodging bullets and chaos, finally
attempting to check into a rehab center but getting stuck in "the
system." Plenty of urban comedy action.

IN LOVE AND
WAR
Sandra Bullock and Chris O'Donnell star in this romance very
loosely based on a love affair between Ernest Hemingway and
medical aide Agnes von Kurowsky during World War I. Director
Richard Attenborough tries here to make a picturesque
drama that sweeps across the screen but the grandeur wears thin
after awhile. For Bullock and O'Donnell fans only.

Bullock, Chris O'Donnell. CC, (MPAA rating: PG-13, 113 min.),

MARS
ATTACKS!
Tim Burton's inspired spoof of 1950s and 1960s sci-fi films will
be a cult classic one day; its theatrical release was marred by
its close proximity to "ID4." The plot is familiar by now: big-
headed Martians land on Earth under the guise of goodwill and
peace and start destroying everything and everyone in sight. Great
performances by Jack Nicholson (as the President of the U.S.),
Martin Short, Lukas Haas and Sylvia Sidney. A sure bet for an
evening's enjoyment.
Director: Tim Burton. Stars: Jack Nicholson,
Glenn Close, Pierce Brosnan, Danny DeVito, Martin Short, Lukas
Haas and Sylvia Sidney CC, (MPAA rating: PG-13, 106 min.),

Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton play sisters, Lee and Bessie, whose
lives have been divergent but who now come together in a time of
trouble. Bessie's life has been one of the dutiful daughter,
taking care of their bedridden father (Hume Cronyn). Lee is a
single mother, raising a delinquent son (Leonardo DiCaprio). When
Bessie is diagnosed with leukemia, she calls Lee and, after 20
year's separation, they reunite, causing sparks to fly but also
discovering a new sense of family and discovery. A warm,
heartfelt film.

MICHAEL
John Travolta is intriguing here in this fairy tale comedy about
a not so heavenly angel and his earthly antics. When a sleazy
tabloid sends William Hurt, Andie Macdowell and Robert Pastorelli
to investigate the report of an angel living in a farmhouse in
Iowa, they get a heck of a lot more than they suspected: a real
angel, though with razor stubble instead of a halo, takes them on
a journey that touches their minds and spirits ... and will
tickle your funnybone and warm your heart. A must-see.
Director: Nora Ephron. Stars: John Travolta,
Andie Macdowell, William Hurt, Robert Pastorelli. CC, (MPAA
rating: PG, 106 min.), Comedy, 1996, Box office gross:

MY FELLOW
AMERICANS
James Garner and Jack Lemmon are grumpy, feuding ex-Presidents
who are forced together to get to the bottom of a scandal brewing
in the White House. The incumbent President, played by Dan
Aykroyd, covers up a bribe by framing one of the former Chief
Executives. And to make sure they don't talk, the two men are
earmarked for an "accident." Unjustly implicated and dodging
operatives bent on their destruction, the two ex-Presidents find
out what the real America is all about. A gently funny tale.

SCREAM
Leave it to horrormeister Wes Craven ("Nightmare on Elm Street")
to come up with this surprise success of a horror-thriller. This
bloodfest is about a stalker who uses his love of scary movies to
terrorize and kill his teenage victims; to survive, his targets
have to follow movie rules: don't answer the door, don't have
sex, don't hide in the closet, don't say "I'll be right back,"
and never, ever SCREAM. Stars Drew Barrymore, Neve Campbell,
Courteney Cox, David Arquette and Skeet Ulrich.
