DVD Brief: The Prince of Egypt |
|
Description: Beautifully animated story of Moses and his ascension to the leadership of the Hebrews. Based on the Book of Exodus, with a nod to Cecile B. De Mille, this DreamWorks version of Moses' struggle to save his people from the oppression of his brother, Egyptian Pharaoh Rameses, is an energetic visual romp that, although taking some liberties with the Bible for the sake of exposition, comes up a winner. The scene of the Hebrews crossing the Red Sea is spectacular and as realistic as any live-action film. It's definitely a film for the entire family, one that can be shared with your kids over and over again.
Special features include audio commentary by directors Chapman, Hickner and
Wells, a 25-minute "The Making of The Prince of Egypt" featurette featuring
cast, crew, and DreamWorks principles Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg; a
multi-language presentation of the song "When You Believe"; a 10-minute Focus on
Technical Effects" featurette focusing on the DreamWorks Animation Studio; a
multi-image segment that shows the basics of the animation behind the "Chariot
Race" sequence; two trailers; an art gallery of "Inspiration and Design"; cast
and filmmakers bios; and production notes.
