Acorn TV’s New Zealand Detective Series Returns

THE BROKENWOOD MYSTERIES

Series 3

U.S. Premiere Beginning Monday, December 5, 2016

Silver Spring, MD – Following the exclusive U.S. Premieres of Acorn TV Original Close to the Enemy and the return of Raised by Wolves and A Place to Call Home, Emmy®-nominated streamer Acorn TV leads off its December lineup with the return of THE BROKENWOOD MYSTERIES, Series 3 on consecutive Mondays, beginning Monday, December 5, 2016. After transferring from a big city to the small town of Brokenwood, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea, Go Girls) continues to settle into the relaxed rhythms of country life. His methodical young assistant, Detective Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland, The Almighty Johnsons), has adapted to Shepherd’s unconventional ways—and even tolerates listening to country music in his 1971 “classic” car. Despite the growing accord between the mismatched pair, all is not well in Brokenwood, where passions simmering beneath the sleepy surface regularly erupt into gruesome crimes. Filmed amid the beautiful landscape of New Zealand’s North Island, the hit series returns with four feature-length, standalone mysteries featuring compelling characters, dry humor, and piquant wit. Series 3 premiered in New Zealand in late October 2016. Available at Acorn.TV and on a variety of devices, Acorn TV is the premier streaming service for world class television from Britain and beyond from RLJ Entertainment (NASDAQ: RLJE).

In Series 3, the detectives investigate the death of a ‘Lord of the Ringz’ tour guide, a young woman found in someone else’s coffin with characters inspired by the board game Clue, a car enthusiast found with a lungful of gasoline, and their much-loved local Mayor dressed as Santa Claus.
